Want to get involved?
Friends of Rotary:
You may be the person who would like to help out from time to time but are not ready to become a member of the core team. You might just like to focus on one of our activities. Absolutely fine.
We really would like to grow our Friends group which will enable us to engage in more areas.
Becoming a Rotarian:
As the core group we tend to meet (subject to being available) every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 7pm for about an hour. It is a very informal meeting where we talk through the upcoming events and sub-groups provide an update on what they are doing and help they need.
We also very much welcome residents from the surrounding villages.
Rotary Bar Service
Are you looking for some help with a party?
A few of the Rotarian are licenced to run a full bar service for your events. A pint of your favourite beer costs less than you think. All proceeds are going back into the community.

The history of Rotary
It’s already over 120 years since four business men met in Chicago, rotating offices for their meetings (hence the name they gave to the organisation).
Their first project was a Gents Public Toilet!
Now being a global force, Rotary has made a real difference in service to the world. Ending Polio, which has been one of their top objectives, is nearing its conclusion, with only two countries left to clear.
Your local Rotary group, covering Long Bennington and surrounding villages, was only set up just before Covid and is now recognised as a dynamic modern community group, setting new standards and delivering success stories which we are proud off.
Here are some statements from our team:
- Talking to the children at our local school about polio and our purple crocus campaign was a real honour.
- Working behind the bar in our village hall has improved my confidence in myself. It is actually good fun.
- I just love our own social events; a nice meal out together or our annual birthday party.
- It was always my dream to have a “Party in the Park” and we did it. It was hard work but after selling out all the tickets and getting amazing feedback, we just had to organise another one.
- Having recently moved into the village, I have made some new friends.
- As we all have different skills, it is amazing what we can achieve as a team.
- I feel valued knowing I am making a difference.
- It is just all good fun.
